Very busy week

Well, it just seems like we have been very busy the last week or so. Needless to say, I didn't get to post this past week. Hopefully I'm not setting a trend, b/c I really want to keep this site updated. I had actually started one last Sunday to show everyone a picture of my birthday dinner.....Daniel once again out did himself! ....crab bisque, crab dip, shrimp and spinach dip, mushroom canapes, and chocolate fondue made from Toblerone....yum! He also had scheduled a massage for me, got me a new rug for the front door (somehow he found the absolute perfect one even though I've been looking for one forever and wasn't able to find exactly what I wanted), and Sadie gave me some framed pictures of herself (she already knows what I love!). It was obviously a successful birthday weekend. Just one more year until the big 3-0!

We had another good weekend this weekend. I had to work yesterday at the 4H fair, handing out information about rain barrels, which are so cool. I really think everyone should have one, though I have to admit Daniel and I don't have one....YET! :) Anyway, while I was working, Daniel and Sadie walked around at the fair. We are learning that Sadie just LOVES being in the middle of lots of activity and people. This is probably true of all babies, but it's funny for us b/c until going to daycare, she had not been around alot of other people except Daniel and I (since our families are so far away and we were slow to venture out with her). So she really enjoyed the fair and just smiled as she took it all in.

She is such a happy baby. I'm amazed all the time at how happy she has become. She's generally complacent no matter what. It was funny last night I had given her a bottle right before bed, and went to burp her, but she was so tired she just wanted to sit on my lap. She was almost falling asleep....eyes shutting and head nodding. Then she looked up at me and just got the biggest grin. :) Life is good! Another funny story...at church this morning she let out three very loud burps! I was mortified, b/c it seemed like she was never going to stop! It was right in the middle of one of the Bible readings when things were pretty quiet. We were surprised that no one turned around to find out where the burps came from, but there were several snickers...including form her mommy and daddy.

Development updates: Last weekend she really began putting things in her mouth. Since then it seems like everything is going in her mouth....dolls, toys, blankets, my shoulder, her fist, the exersaucer...you get the picture. I don't think she is teething yet. So I guess she has just learned she can do this. I also learned this week that she's been rolling over at daycare. We thought she had rolled over once before when we were having some professional pictures made of her, but finally chalked it up to a fluke when after four weeks we haven't seen her do it again. Well, I asked Miss Jane (Sadie's daycare provider and our good friend) if she had rolled over and Jane just started smiling. Soooo...since then I've been trying desperately to get her to do her little "secret" trick for us. The problem is she cries everytime I put her on her tummy. So I don't know. We'll keep trying and update you if we ever get to see the infamous "roll"!!!

Well, I better get to bed. We are leaving for TX this Wednesday for my brother, Will's, wedding. I can't wait! Of course we have lots left to do before we take off, and I'm exhausted just thinking about it all.

love to all,
Amanda

Tree Hugger Preschool

Today was another good day for Sadie. She slept through the night (which she has done for about 10 days now) and it has been REALLY nice! I woke her up, she had her bottle, got dressed, got kisses from Mommy, and off to Miss Jane's daycare we went.

This afternoon when I picked her up, it was reported that she had another good day playing with her friends. She was happy and smiling when I arrived which is a great feeling! She took a bit of a catnap on our way home before our big evening out.

Amanda had a Backyard Conservation Workshop that she was helping with this afternoon at West Park in Carmel, and she was responsible for refreshments. Being as she had a bit of a hectic work schedule today, Sadie and I helped her out on this front by meeting her at the park with the food and drinks.

Before the meeting started, Sadie and I took a walk through the park / nature reserve, and we had an educational lesson on various plant and wildlife habitats. I explained to her that it is important that we take care of the many gifts that God has given us such as the plants and animals. I think that she may have dozed off during part of my lesson and I'm sure a couple of the people that we passed thought that I was nuts for talking to a sleeping baby, but oh well, it was fun anyways!

We then made it back for the presentations talking about rain gardens, wetlands, water conservation, etc. I have often joked that I am married to a tree-hugger, and so tonight was Sadie's first official 'tree-hugger' experience (a.k.a. Tree-Hugger Preschool). She was even appropriately dressed (by chance only) in a pink outfit with frogs on it -the symbol of her Mom's water conservation and water quality public education campaign.

Once we made it home, Sadie finished-up her day with a bath, a final bottle, some play/talk time, and of course, a few more kisses. She is now resting peacefully waiting for tomorrow to come.

I am thankful for the tree-huggers in my life. Good night girls!

Welcome to our Blog!

Here's our first attempt at a at least weekly update of our lives with Sweet Sadie! We love reading other people's blogs and thought how fun it would be to keep everyone updated about Sadie's development. Plus as everyone knows, I love to talk. So this is an easy way for me to indulge myself without boring anyone unless they really want to be bored!!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. Ours was good. We went to see our friends Russ and Selena Bragg and their 5 week old son, Lawson on the 4th. The Braggs moved to Evansville, IN last summer. So we've been missing them since. Sadie was kinda fussy once we got there. I think she had a bit of an upset tummy, but we finally got to put her and Lawson on the floor together for some pics. I think they loved each other! It's so fun to see babies together and how they react to each other. Sadie was just staring at Lawson and he was smiling back at her. Too cute! We took it easy the rest of the weekend. I had had mastitis (yes, for the 4th time!) last week and was still a little sluggish. We are now trying to wean after this last infection. Hopefully all will go well without another case of mastitis and without Sadie reacting badly to formula full time. I will update later with our progress.

I've been back at work fulltime for almost three weeks now. Sadie seems to be doing really well at daycare (thanks to Miss Jane!). Mom is not doing as well, but hopefully I'll get used to it eventually. No matter how much fun Sadie is having, it still doesn't seem right to not be with her every day. I look at her pictures online at least once a day (sometimes more...oops!).

Everything else is going well. Sadie is growing a ton and changing. She had what we think was her first little giggle last week. I was tickling her tummy and then tickled her under her neck and she let out a little laugh. So of course I did it again and again until she was tired of it. :) She's such a joy to us and we love each day we spend with her! Every day is a blessing!
