Heartache

My heart has been broken this week by the story of this family I have been praying for. Their 11 month old daughter, Cora Paige, went to be with Jesus on Sunday after being diagnosed only 3 weeks earlier with cancer. My heart hurts and I have cried so much the last two days for the pain Cora's parents must be experiencing.

It's funny how much clarity you gain when you become a parent. I suddenly became aware of the extra treasures in life...and things that were important before, aren't anymore. You also inherit something every new parent before you has also inherited...a new extreme sensitivity to suffering children and an undescribable connection to the parents of these children. Cora's story has touched Daniel and I to the point that neither of us can get it out of our minds. Maybe it is because Cora was only a few weeks older than Sadie. So we can imagine all the developmental milestones Sadie has experienced and know that Cora's parents were sharing that same joy around those same moments. But her story has also reminded us that we should treasure the "everyday" moments and that our ULTIMATE goal for our children is for them to be in Heaven. Our pastor just spoke in Bible class last weekend that it is never too early to teach your children the Lord's prayer and pray with them and teach them about God. It is amazing the peace that comes with knowing we all WANT to be with Jesus one day. We will endure no suffering in Heaven. THIS is what we want for our children, and sweet Cora is there now.

Please keep The Macs in your prayers. What an incredible example in faith and love they are.
